⛱️ Superday, Concert in the Park & More | This Week in Cheyenne

Superday 2023 takes place on Saturday, June 24th at Lions Park.

Monday, June 19th

Michael Lemke Art Exhibition: Ceramics | 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. | LCCC Esther and John Clay Fine Arts Gallery, 1400 E College Dr | Free to attend | Michael Lemke has been a University of Northern Colorado art professor for the past 18 years and brings his art to display at LCCC. Some of his art includes features reminiscent of marine life, such as sea shells, octopi and coral. Dots on many of the pieces are reflective of a family trip to Hawaii, where Lemke’s father dove deep underwater to retrieve a shell with similar features.

Tuesday, June 20th

Watercolor Painting Session | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Flydragon Art Studio, 600 W 17th St | $37 | Grab a friend or two and head to this painting session where you'll paint "Ocean Breeze" on a 16x20" stretched cotton canvas. All supplies are included.

Intro to Wheel Throwing Pottery | 6:30 p.m. | Silver Sage Ceramics, 3110 Old Faithful Rd | $53 | The 90 minute session will provide the basics of wheel throwing and how to center and pull walls. Keep up to two of of your favorite pieces to be fired and glazed. All tools needed are included.

Concert in the Park | 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Lions Park, Brimmer Amphitheater | Free to attend | Bring the chairs and enjoy a night in the park as the Cheyenne Civic Concert Band presents a summer concert at the Brimmer Amphitheater in Lions Park featuring music of the British Isles.

Wednesday, June 21st

Intuitive Plant & Paint Night: Self-Watering Planters | 6:00 p.m. | Sunshine Plant Company, 600 W 17th St | $55 | Begin with a short meditation to inspire your intuitive painting at Flydragon Art Studio and then head to Sunshine Plant Company to create a lush, self-watering planter. All materials + a charcuterie cup included.

Reggae Night | 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. | Railspur, 707 W Lincolnway | Free to attend | Featuring Gene Clementson, reggae night features a mash up of reggae, country, rock, pop and more. Food and drinks available.

Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies 2023 | 7:00 p.m. | Capitol Cinema 16, 3410 Concord Rd | $14.15 | The Grateful Dead return to cinemas worldwide for the 2023 Meet-Up At The Movies. On a Saturday night in front of 60,000 fans, the Dead played what is often considered one of the greatest shows of the Bruce-Vince era, up there with the second Giants Stadium show from a few days earlier.

Friday, June 23rd

Sunday, June 25th

How to be a Successful Art Vendor | 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Cheyenne Creativity Center, 1620 Thomes Ave | Free to attend, Suggested Donation | Local artist Steve Knox will discuss the ins and outs of participating as an artist vendor at art festivals. Learn how to successfully apply for calls for vendor shows, how to plan your travel, time, costs and how to set up a proper artist vendor booth.

Giovannie and The Hired Guns | 8:00 p.m. | The Lincoln, 1615 Central Ave | $18.98 | Pushing the boundaries of rock-and-roll and country, the band is one of the most crowd-thrilling bands to burst onto the national scene in recent years. With support from Them Dirty Roses.

One Last Thing

The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra announced its 2023–2024 concert season, titled “The Universe Awaits.” The season concert lineup draws inspiration from outer space. Shows will feature Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony, Nielsen’s “Helios Overture'‘ and Wagner’s “Flying Dutchman Overture”. The CSO will also perform the favorites such as its annual Movie Music Matinee and Holiday Magic concert, featuring All-City Children’s Chorus and more!

Season tickets are available now, with individual event tickets on sale August 15th.
