Monday, May 1st 

Mindfulness 101 Series | 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. | The Hawthorn Tree, 112 E 17th St | $15/session or $36/three | Interested in building self-awareness, reducing stress and boosting well-being? This series is for you. Learn by doing and take home mindful exercises to practice during the week.

Rooted Loops presents "Musical Canvas" | 6:30 p.m. | Blue Raven Brewery, 209 E 18th St | $20 | Musical Canvas is very much like musical chairs meets an art party! The collaborative experience lets you express yourself through visual art and when the music stops you will rotate to the next canvas! When the art session is over you will go home with a unique painting! All materials are provided.

A Conversation with Actor David Zayas | 7:00 p.m. | LCCC Clay Pathfinder Building, 1400 E College Dr | Free to attend | Best known for his role as Angel Batista on the Award winning series “Dexter” (Showtime), the conversation will highlight his life, time with the USAF and NYPD, and his acting career.

Tuesday Trivia | 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. | Old Chicago, 1734 Meadowland Dr | Free to attend | Use your phone to play along with this interactive trivia game featuring a competitive mix of questions including an image round and music round.

Wednesday, May 3rd

Noon Meditation Series | 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, 710 S. Lions Park Dr | Free to attend | Drop-in meditation sessions in the Gathering Room in the Shane Smith Conservatory. Bring anything you need to help you sit comfortably for 30 minutes- blanket, towel, etc.

LCCC Theatre Dept presents "With a Little Help From My Friends: A Student Showcase" (Also Friday, May 5th & Saturday, May 6th) | 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. | The LCCC Playhouse, 1400 E College Dr | $10 | The show features brand new student-written work with special guests Matt McLachlan and David Zayas, Jr. A portion of the proceeds will go into LCCC’s Theatre Club.

The celebración will include a Lowrider Show, Los Conejos lager beer release and birria taco/beer pairing, new menu item release and more. 

Fridays on the Plaza Drop | 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Depot Plaza, 1 Depot Square Capitol & 15th St | Free to attend | This year's Fridays on the Plaza concert lineup announcement! Head to the plaza during your lunch hour and enjoy some of your food truck favorites. The first 200 fans will receive a swag bag with event-branded items.

First Friday Future Gazing | 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. | Sunshine Plant Co, 600 W 17th St | $ for reading | Sneak a peek into your future with a tarot reading by Maren + free tea and hot chocolate. 

Cheyenne First Friday Artwalk | 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Multiple Businesses, Downtown | Free to attend | Every first Friday of the month, downtown venues and businesses open their doors to showcase unique artists from Cheyenne and the region. Hop from location to location and view work by featured artists. This month's featured venue is Blue Door Arts/Art @ The Hynds with music from Bonomo, food from Jay's Northwoods BQ food truck and beverages for sale. 

Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour Make & Take | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Board & Brush, 1719 Pioneer Ave | $20 | Stop in anytime in the two-hour span and create a Cinco de Mayo themed project - stencil and paint only.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Opening Night) | 7:30 p.m. Mary Godfrey Playhouse, 2706 E Pershing Blvd | $16.50-$26.50 | Based upon the classic fairy tale, and particularly the French version Cendrillon ou la Petite Pantoufle de Verre, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s adaptation brings new life to the story of a young woman forced into servitude who dreams of – and achieves – a better life.

 🌮 Community Spirit : Comea Shelter's Annual Tacos & Tequila fundraiser takes place Friday, May 5th. The evening features a taco Buffet, silent & live auctions and bar. This year's event takes place at the beautiful BEAST Foundation. Grab a ticket and help support operations and resources for those that are facing homelessness in our community.

Saturday, May 6th

Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale | 8:00 a.m. - 4 p.m.| Archer Event Center, Building M&K | Free to attend | It's time to stock up on plants. The sale will feature everything from tomatoes, roses, and grasses to trees, houseplants and plent more! Bring your cart and get ready for summer.

UFC 288: Sterling vs Cejudo | 8:00 p.m. | Capitol Stadium 12, 3410 Concord Rd | $18.87 | The bad blood has been boiling, and on May 6, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and Henry "Triple C" Cejudo will settle their score in the main event of UFC 288. Watch it all on the big screen!

Cheyenne Fire and Rescue will purchase a new UTV as a recent recipient of a Firehouse Subs grant.

🐩 Fun for Pets : Black Dog Animal Rescue is hosting its 4th Annual Cornhole Tournament and Block Party in early June, to raise money for cats and dogs in need

🤠 Coming Soon: A new store called Town Square Marketplace is opening in downtown Cheyenne and will feature all things Wyoming, including: cowboy style, Navajo jewelry and harder-to-find western fashion brands. 

🌊 Power Up: Cheyenne's new hydroelectric generator will produce enough power for the city’s water treatment facility.  

🌟 Celebrate: United Way of Laramie County, the county’s largest fund and grant supplier to charitable and non-profit organizations, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with its first gala black-tie event. 

 👨‍🚒 New Tool: With a grant received from Firehouse Subs, Cheyenne Fire Rescue is purchasing a new UTV, which will be used for special event coverage, incident resources, grass-fire responses and more. 

❤️ Give Back: Cheyenne's annual Day of Giving is back and will be held May 12th, in an effort to help the sick and the economically disadvantaged in the Cheyenne area. Donations will be excepted at multiple drop-off points throughout the city. 

🎫 On the Prowl: The record-breaking musical spectacular, CATS, that has captivated audiences in over 30 countries and 15 languages will be live at the Cheyenne Civic Center on May 16th & 17th.

🥇Home Run: Registration is open for the co-rec adult kickball league through the City of Cheyenne Recreation Department. The league is outdoors and will be played at Dave Romero Park, July through September. 

One Last Thing

The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports or the Run for the Roses takes place on Saturday, May 6th with the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby. Grab your fanciest hat, or bow tie and mix up some mint juleps to watch the race or pre-game:
